Our Legal organisation connects our customers’ businesses to the ever-changing legal and regulatory environment.  We provide critical online and print information, decision support tools, software and services to lawyers who practice in law firms, in corporate legal departments and in the public sector. Position Title: Publisher

Position Type: Permanent

Role Purpose/ Summary:

The Publisher is responsible for ensuring that the Roundhall frontlist business objectives are met.  The Publisher has to monitor the commissioning department’s activity, ensuring that frontlist commissioning and pipeline targets and are met and that the commissioning output is in line with Roundhall’s overall goals. 

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities: 

  • Compile annual Frontlist Plan
  • Build books pipeline for next 2 years – creating PAFs and contracting with authors as necessary
  • Manage author relationships to ensure titles are delivered according to plan
  • Provide weekly update on Frontlist delivery to Management team and attend regular financial monitoring  meetings
  • General list and author management and administration where required.
  • Liaise with marketing to ensure all relevant information is available

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

  • Commercial Acumen
  • Analytical skills
  • Project management

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience of commissioning would be an advantage

Other significant role requirements: Any factors which have a bearing on a candidates’ ability to perform

  • The role of Publisher requires a person who is adaptable to change, so that commissioning strategy and department practices can be altered in line with market changes.
  • This is a market-facing role, so it requires someone who is confident and outgoing
  • The role requires someone who can stay calm in a crisis
  • There role requires someone who can think on their feet and react quickly to opportunities

Education/ Certifications Required:

  • No professional qualifications required.  A Law Degree is useful, but not essential.
