Reuters is seeking a talented reporter for the role of Senior Correspondent in its busy bureau in Rio de Janeiro, one of the world’s most spectacular cities. We need a journalist with the ability to produce exciting multi-media reporting on general news stories in Brazil as well as the versatility to help cover the energy and mining sector in Rio, and the city’s fund management industry. The successful candidate will have an eye for detail to bring to life the complexities of Brazil for a foreign audience – from the impact on daily life of the sprawling Car Wash anti-corruption investigation, to the growth of the Evangelical religious right in politics, as well as problems of drugs and violence dogging major cities. They should also possess a flair for investigative reporting, to dig deep beneath the surface of stories and distinguish Reuters reporting.
At least 5 years in journalism is required. Fluent English is essential. Knowledge of Portuguese is an advantage but not required.
