Manager, DB2 Database Administration

Job Description

Thomson Reuters BETA Systems is seeking a Manager of DB2 Database Administration to lead and direct a group of highly talented and motivated DBAs. This is a very hands on role that requires active participation in work activities.


  • Lead and direct a group of highly talented and motivated DBAs
  • Collaborate with other Technical Service groups, including CICS, MVS and Storage
  • Work with software vendors, particularly to solve software problems in an expedited manor


  • Extensive knowledge of DB2 for z/OS and the ability to support the system components
  • Ability to support application development projects that access DB2 for z/OS
  • Understanding of how DB2 object definitions and SQL affects performance.  They should be familiar with DB2 and SQL performance monitoring and be able to interpret performance metrics
  • The candidate should also be familiar with logical data modeling and physical database design. Knowledgeable of DB2 commands and the IBM DB2 utility suite

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of the BETA application
  • Familiarity with the CA DB2 tools including RC/Query, RC/Migrator, RC/Update, CA Detector and CA/Subsystem Analyzer and Fast Unload
  • Familiarity with REXX
  • Ideally the candidate would have knowledge of one or more of the following XML, native DB2 stored procedures, and Power Exchange
