Regional Accounts - Telephone Sales Representative – Print Products

(8-month contract)


This position would be of interest to someone who has experience doing high outbound call activity in a telephone sales environment. Outbound calls will be made to both existing Thomson Reuters customers to sell them additional products, and hunter calling in order to cultivate new clients. The role will require positioning Thomson Reuters as the supplier of choice for an assigned group of accounts in the Canadian market. These are typically Legal, Tax and HR professionals. Strong business development, negotiation skills, and issues management will be critical requirements. The individuals will work closely with the

Account On-Line Specialists, and the Marketing Team to ensure full territory coverage and maximize opportunities in a campaign based environment.

This position is responsible for:

  • developing new revenue through campaign based telephone sales of Thomson Reuters products and services;
  • to successfully secure and grow new revenue from new customers and existing customers equally;
  • thoroughly analyzing call results;
  • maintaining and cultivating a diversity of contacts with our accounts;
  • contributing to the success of cross functional teams;
  • developing a strong internal network;
  • creating revenues by identifying opportunities, establishing penetration strategies and creating sound partnerships with customers;
  • developing and executing an astute positioning strategy, as well as achieving genuine differentiation; and
  • utilizing campaign records and recording activity using


  • utilizing to record call activity, sales, campaigns, etc. as required;
  • reporting monthly, or as required, on all sales activities, market trends, competitor information and individual projects;
  • weekly forecasting of sales on a per account basis;
  • preparing weekly and monthly reports on performance metrics and key issues and opportunities;
  • developing key account plans and keeping them up to date;
  • managing and reporting on all business expenses;
  • participating in the annual budget process, providing forecasts and projections on sales and revenue growth in assigned territory;
  • attending, participating in and reporting on meetings, sales conferences, company sponsored training initiatives and relevant trade shows/conventions; and
  • developing proposals to fit client needs.

You will be a strong team player and will possess:

  • a post secondary education or equivalent work experience;
  • 2 years+ proven outbound telephone sales success;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • strong business writing abilities;
  • the ability to adapt to a variety of changing events within the job;
  • the motivation, drive and discipline, to exceed sales targets;
  • exceptional organizational and prioritization skills;
  • a valid driver’s license; and
  • PC skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and the Internet.
