Legal Product Developer

(2 contract positions - one for 15-months and one for 10-months)

Purpose:

To write and plan the content of specific Major Market print and electronic publications.

This position is responsible for:

  • keeping abreast of all legal developments which impact assigned products;
  • sourcing editorial material and maintaining an efficient network of internal and external sources and contacts upon which to draw for content, topics, contributions and clarifications;
  • researching, tracking and reviewing primary material requiring analysis in publications;
  • writing, assembling and delivering timely manuscript and marketing copy;
  • providing testing and other support for various online products as needed; and
  • attending appropriate industry seminars, conferences and training programs to maintain content expertise.

You will be a strong team player and will possess:

  • a J.D., LL.B or equivalent;
  • extensive product-specific content knowledge;
  • exceptional written and verbal English communication skills;
  • demonstrated research and effective writing skills;
  • the ability to work with minimum direct supervision;
  • the ability to work under tight deadlines and to handle a variety of activities simultaneously;
  • excellent interpersonal skills; and
  • PC skills – MS Office.

Familiarity with Westlaw Next Canada and other online legal research tools and relevant publishing experience will be considered an asset.
