Job Description

Practical Law Australia has an opportunity available for a paralegal to join its business on a full time, permanent basis, ideally with availability to start in the first week of February 2018. Working within the established global enterprise of Thomson Reuters, you will have a key role supporting the content maintenance and production processes and the development of this leading knowledge platform. You will be part of a high calibre team comprised of ex-top tier lawyers with substantial practicing experience.    

Responsibilities

You will assist in the supporting the Practical Law team of lawyer writers in the content maintenance and production processes, which will involve the following tasks:

  • Monitoring, reviewing and summarising new legal developments
  • Updating resources to reflect the current legal position
  • Monitoring and summarising key data relating to public company transactions
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports on trends in public company transactions
  • Review of existing knowledge resources
  • Document production
  • Legal research
  • Proof-reading and copy editing
  • Using existing technology platforms to build reference links within and between resources
  • Coding resource metadata

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of at least one year paralegal experience
  • Positive, pro-active with a willingness to learn and take on different tasks
  • Highly organised and with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds & cultures
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise while working in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Full working rights within Australia
  • The ability to act with urgency to deliver on deadlines
