ENT LAN D&E Lead Network Engineer

Job Description

The D&E team works on projects in two main areas.

  • Working with the Proposition Management, Architecture, Design and Development teams to develop and implement new strategic network capabilities and 'blue chip' programs like MIFID 2.
  • Working with the Implement and Operate teams to deliver strategic ENT programs including Data Centre Rationalisation and infrastructure Life Cycle Management projects and Service Improvement initiatives.

Subject Matter Expert groups in ENT Network Design & Engineering work with the design authority for particular areas or networks.  Engineers will be assigned to one or more groups and will provide an escalation point for design issues and will ensure sufficient training and documentation is available to effectively support our infrastructure.

The responsibility of the SME group will be:

  • Agree design standards and ensure they are followed by the wider team, review and approve changes
  • Regularly interact with Architecture to ensure Design Standards match Architecture Positions
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is available and published via document indexes (High Level Designs, Work Books, How To Guides, Operability Guides, etc.)
  • Deliver and record training for the wider team
  • Provide technical support/testing for life cycle management of infrastructure.
  • Respond to Escalations from Support Team on the technology – service issues, co-ordinate discussions with vendors support etc.
  • Proactively maintain the technology design in the area; propose improvements, simplifications, automation to reduce the workload of maintenance
