Account Manager – Federal Government

Location: Washington DC metro area or Mclean, Virginia

Job Description

Position Objective/Mission:

With a focus on federal agencies in the United States government, the Account Manager – Federal Government is responsible for driving sales with new customers, strengthening and growing existing revenues of tax & accounting research content (digital and print) and positioning our learning solutions into the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches of government. 

Outcomes:

  • Responsible for consistently achieving target sales goals
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline in Salesforce.com by regularly and frequently meeting with existing and prospective customers
  • Ensure that all sales and related activities are entered into Salesforce.com in a compliant manner – i.e. daily discipline.
  • Consistently deliver accurate forecasting within a variance of 10%.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of TRTA product offerings and effectively demonstrate key products and solutions within 6 months of hire
  • Work to build timely, strong relationships by conducting weekly lead-sharing and/or customer strategy calls with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Consultative Selling skills with the ability to navigate a complex solutions sale - 5 + years
  • Communication skills - ability to effectively communicate with key government contacts
  • Discovery and presentation skills - ability to effectively express software/solutions concepts and demonstrate the Checkpoint suite of products
  • Computer skills - the ability to effectively utilize various automation tools, such as Salesforce.com
  • Business and technical acumen - the ability to solve customer and internal company issues, while staying abreast of relevant technology applications and trends

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years direct field sales experience (sales experience in the federal government sector preferred) with exemplary track record of sales quota overachievement
  • 4 year college degree
  • Previous federal government industry experience a plus
  • Able to work from home office and travel to customer locations 80% of the time.
