Develop and implement a strategic communications plan for the Japan market; driving both internal and external communications activities.
Support and manage key stakeholders including senior leadership and marketing with their communications needs; provide strategic communications advice as required
Drive media relations efforts for the Japan market and secure media coverage to raise the visibility and profile of the financial & risk business.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local Japanese media and other external influencers and opinion leaders
Maintain media lists, track coverage and producing media coverage and metrics reports.
Write and distribute communications materials (including media pitches, bylined articles, press releases, etc. as necessary)
Drafting and editing of internal and external communication messages for multiple channels – website, emails, intranet, blogs, etc.
Leverage marketing campaigns and events by working collaboratively with the Japan marketing team
Work closely with the global team to leverage global communications initiatives – act as an advisor on best practice for the Japan market.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Minimum bachelor’s degree
8+ years of experience in public relations and communications
Extensive PR experience gained within an agency or in-house PR role; financial or technology backgrounds are preferred
Native Japanese speaker with strong English skills preferred
Established relationships with Japanese media
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven track record in delivering measurable PR results, at a high-profile organization and in both a local Japanese and global setting
Strong people and managerial skills – need to be able to work with people at all levels, of different nationalities and manage a wide variety of stakeholders
Strong collaboration skills
Detail-oriented individual with excellent follow through
Ability to present to and influence leadership team
Ability to plan strategic objectives and goals
