The Big Data team is part of the Thomson Reuters Data Center and Infrastructure Services organization. We work closely with our technology development organization to design and build innovative solutions that support our mission and enable innovative products. Our team is responsible for designing and maintaining our Big Data infrastructure services, including 24x7x365 operational support.
The BigData Infrastructure Engineer position offers an opportunity to work with a small group of highly skilled and passionate engineers on an exciting journey to transform the way Thomson Reuters Data Centers deliver Big Data solutions and services to our business. The BigData Infrastructure Engineer will participate in an on-call support rotation, including weekday daytime hours, some 48-hour weekends, occasional weekday overnight hours, and some holidays. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical aptitude, solid customer service skills, and interest in learning the latest technologies.
Education and Experience
B.S./B.A. Computer Science or related field; or equivalent level of experience.
Ability to prioritize work with a strong focus on service delivery.
Ability to address customer inquiries in a consistent and responsive manner.
Strong passion for technology and a willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
Ability to investigate complex issues spanning multiple technologies.
Strong technical aptitude and ability to comprehend technical documentation.
Strong analytical skills and the patience to work through problem resolution.
Self-motivated and self-directed.
Ability to translate technical direction to specific work responsibilities.
• Experience in an IT or technology support role.
• Progressive technology experience.
• Previous software engineering and development experience.
• Previous UNIX/Linux administration experience.
• Previous experience with Hadoop.
