Job Description

The Training, Consulting & Implementation Services department is looking for a Technical Consultant to join their dynamic Professional Services team. In the position of Technical Consultant you will become part of a very customer focused technical team that works in a fast paced environment in order to enhance our customers business performance. Technical Consultants partner with our customers and drive change in their business by analyzing business needs and deploying existing and/or customized solutions. As a Technical Consultant you are a vital component to the accounting firms transition and ongoing experience with Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting software. The ideal candidate understands how an accounting firm operates, is tech-savvy with hands-on software implementation experience, and is comfortable interacting with customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with clients to analyze business scenarios and design custom solutions
  • Collaborate with software engineers to determine technical feasibility
  • Identify and mitigate risk
  • Define project scope and create statement of work (SOW) documentation
  • Manage multiple concurrent client projects of varying size, complexity, and due dates
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients and internal stakeholders on project status through completion
  • Facilitate technical process of migrating customer data from an external source to a Thomson Reuters software
  • Build and maintain client relationships supporting their use and application of Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting Products
     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Accounting preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional work experience
  • Project management experience
  • Previous experience working with relational databases (SQL experience preferred)
  • Basic programming knowledge of scripting languages
  • Experience working in MS Visual Studio preferred, but not required
  • High proficiency with MS Office
  • Knowledge of CS Professional Suite and/or Enterprise Suite products, or other document management software is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Ability to independently research and troubleshoot issues
  • Understanding of tax/accounting concepts as they relate to product lines
  • Strong communication, project planning and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact with various client roles from managing partners, professional, administration, to IT staff
