Lead Analyst, Global LNG Market, Research and Insight

Thomson Reuters Commodities Research and Forecasts requires a Lead Analyst to join the LNG team. The team delivers market data, provides forecasts of supply, demand and prices and publishes in depth reports on the global LNG market. Our clients are natural gas and LNG producers, importers, distribution companies, trading houses and financial institutions.

This is a great opportunity to join an entrepreneurial team of four and contribute to the fast growth of our leading LNG product. In this role, you will be exposed to a wide range of activities from writing market reports to developing models. The team is split between Oslo and London; this role is based in London.

Job Requirements

  • Analyse and forecast supply, demand and prices for the global LNG market
  • Develop and maintain a range of fundamental models (e.g. regression based consumption models, optimisation model for global LNG flows etc.)
  • Develop innovative methodologies to enable successful fundamental modelling
  • Communicate market insight in reports, presentations and through direct customer contact
  • Improve the content and design of our pages on our platform (Eikon)
  • Write weekly market report as part of a rotation
  • Participate in the creation of a new monthly report and contribute to writing as part of a rotation
  • Monitor LNG trade flows as part of a rotation and ensure the data is of good quality
  • Collaborate with the EU and US gas teams, and wider Commodity Research group on modelling and market analysis

Experience

  • Experience in the global LNG market
  • Experience in developing fundamental models
  • Experience in delivering market analysis to support trading is preferred
  • Exposure to trading environment is desirable (desk analyst, trader etc.)

Knowledge/Skills

Required:

  • Good understanding of the global gas/LNG market
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent programming skills (essential)
  • Strong grounding in statistics and/or operational research
  • Ability to synthesise, structure and explain in-depth analysis

Preferred:

  • In depth knowledge of the global LNG market
  • Detailed knowledge of methodologies to forecast global LNG flows and prices

Education

  • At least bachelor degree in a quantitative subject
  • Advanced degree preferred
