F&R Customer Operations
Part of Thomson Reuters’ Research and Insight division, the Metals Research team is one of seven research groups including: Oil, Agriculture, Natural Gas and Shipping. Metals Research includes coverage of precious and base metals and iron ore. The majority of the base metals team is located in London with additional analysts in Chicago and Singapore, producing supply and demand numbers for the main traded LME base metals, and more recently for iron ore.
With the wide resources available in Thomson Reuters group we are building a product deliverable via desktop into clients’ offices, providing fundamental research, market commentary and analysis, giving individual analysts exposure to a world-wide readership, as well as direct interaction with clients. We are also working closely with other research teams in the organisation, looking to develop, for example, a study of certain commodity flows around the world and tying in with shipping patterns and the use of interactive maps.
We are looking to recruit a data scientist to be based in Singapore, to help us automate the collection and data basing of operational data in the global mining industry and support in the development of industry benchmark models.
The analyst will report to the Manager of Metals and Mining, in London.
The role will focus primarily on automating data capture and data validation from PDF documents including quarterly mine performance, reserves and resources, key financial data and drill data. And to support in the development of benchmark models for operational and financial data across the mining sector.
