The position
Are you fascinated by how data and technology are rapidly impacting human rights? Does the use of algorithms to decide people’s lives keep you up at night? Are you interested in how digital technology can help some of the world’s poorest people protect their livelihoods? The Thomson Reuters Foundation is seeking a talented, high-energy, experienced correspondent with excellent news judgment and strong writing skills to direct our coverage on how data-driven technology and AI is impacting people and societies around the globe. In a world where data and technology are increasingly pervasive, we want to uncover how data, algorithms, and AI are being used for and against social well-being - from the right to privacy to access to information - and look at how people, governments and companies are adapting and responding to new technological challenges.
You will be based in New York or San Francisco or London but will work with the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s award-winning global news team to produce unique stories that have impact and raise awareness about a raft of issues on ethical and social impacts of data, algorithms and AI. You will produce daily news as well as exclusive and unique long form stories on the fast moving digital rights sector as it impacts human rights. You will stay ahead of the curve on legal and policy changes, technological developments, and build a network with some of the most influential voices in this field.
If you are excited about working for an international news organisation that has extraordinary reach and you want to have impact, this could be the job for you. The position requires a proven track record in excellent reporting and technology expertise.
