Client Specialist, Buyside

Job Description

We are looking for a Client Specialist, Buyside to act as the primary point of contact and ensure retention with client end-users of our desktop products. In this relationship focused role, you will maximize and grow desktop revenue and enhance customer usage through product and workflow expertise.

Client Specialists are the product and workflow experts that work specifically with end-users. In this role, you will be aligned to the Buyside Advisory and Investment Management (AIM) team. The AIM team typically works with economists, various types of analysts (investment banking, research, financial/investment, performance) portfolio managers, asset consultants and advisors.


Reporting to the Client Specialist Manager, Buyside, you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Consult clients and prospects to understand their challenges, then find and provide workflow solutions and financial models through the use of our data and tools.
  • Provide support, training and guidance to allow end-users to extract the most value from our products (market insight, idea generation, tools, tips to relevant end-users).
  • Relationship management - build relationships with clients to become a trusted partner and work with other internal teams to ensure a high level of service is maintained.
  • Be the primary representative of Thomson Reuters to the end-users of his/her assigned client-base and conversely:
  • Represent the voice of clients at Thomson Reuters: Providing feedback and driving the changes and enhancements to our solutions that clients need.
  • Develop targeted strategies and campaigns to defend and grow revenue.

Skills and experience

  • 3-5 years experience in financial markets, preferably related to investment analysis.
  • High proficiency with MS Excel and financial modeling
  • Very good understanding of Capital Markets, Equities and Fixed Income.
  • Strong capacity for solving problems
  • Excellent English language and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

Additional beneficial skills and qualifications

  • Sales experience
  • VBA/programming experience
  • CFA or Masters in Finance
  • Understanding/experience in other asset classes/derivatives.
