The Tax Analyst Oil & Gas Content updates multiple tax data systems for upstream, midstream, downstream oil and gas sales/use, business occupation, motor fuel and other special indirect tax rates in U.S. jurisdictions. Furthermore, this role will review and analyze test cases for tax scenarios.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Research, analyze, and document sales/use, business occupation and other indirect tax special rate changes concerning the U.S. oil and gas industry
  • Monitor statutes, legislative activity, and tax publications to stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations affecting indirect taxes associated with downstream, midstream and upstream oil and gas
  • Enter tax data changes in multiple tax applications
  • Develop and analyze test cases for tax compliance
  • Correspond and establish relationships with state and local tax authorities
  • Research and write memos concerning oil and gas indirect tax issues
  • Communicate and work with other internal teams to complete timely and accurate tax data updates
  • Conduct and facilitate presentations on areas of tax content responsibility
  • Initiate special projects as assigned by management

Technical /Professional Skills & Competencies:

Essential Skills:

  • Two (2) to four (4) years indirect tax experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Ability to utilize online research tools (e.g. Westlaw, Checkpoint, RIA)
  • Time management skills to consistently meet rigid and recurring deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate and handle multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of multi-state sales tax laws and requirements
  • Capability to interact successfully with various tax authorities
  • Proficiency in use of software systems: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Access
  • Superior organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong aptitude for detail
  • Must be a self-starter

Desired Skills:

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of progressive indirect tax experience with ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination (formerly Sabrix Solution) or other transaction tax system


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, taxation or related field and/or equivalent work experience
