Role Summary:

Reuters, the news and media division of Thomson Reuters, is looking for a Senior Project Manager to coordinate work across a team of over one hundred software development, operations, and support professionals.  You will report directly to our CTO, and be part of our overall technology leadership team.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and tracking several cross-disciplinary projects with well-defined outcomes, and in some cases committed delivery dates.   For the next two years, your primary responsibility will be relocating our largest bureau and coordinating the redesign of our entire video production and distribution platform, as we move from a centralized on-premise workflow to a globally distributed and cloud-based workflow.  You will need to liaise with other teams and project managers in real estate, finance, facilities, data center operations, and manage vendors and contractors.  As a leader on the project you will be in a position to make a meaningful impact on our news agency business, and help driving value for our customers.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Plan and prioritize infrastructure, software development, and facilities work, including video production infrastructure and studios
  • Lead business case development and track progress for multi-million dollar programs of work
  • Liaise with internal groups to manage dependencies, and secure commitments and funding
  • Manage external vendors throughout their lifecycle: conduct evaluations, lead negotiations, and manage implementation and support
  • Coordinate technical activity among geographically dispersed teams
  • Collect and track requirements for internal IT systems

Essential Skills:

  • Extensive work experience managing software and IT infrastructure projects, with some experience as a lead with direct accountability for project delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to construct, communicate, and critically analyze business cases
  • Experience assembling and tracking project plans, and managing them using JIRA or other work tracking systems

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of video production systems and studios is beneficial but not required
  • Experience with managing datacenter and infrastructure projects, particularly datacenter migrations and public cloud deployments
  • Scrum or Agile software development training or experience
