Apply for the Reuters Photojournalism Grant

Reuters seeks to develop the next generation of photojournalists to tell original human stories from their locations and communities anywhere around the world. We are offering up to eight $5,000 USD grants to photojournalists or students of photojournalism, interested in working on photo assignments and projects to advance their abilities and tell new stories. Pictures taken by recipients will be distributed globally on Reuters News media platforms.

Who can apply?

Any passionate photojournalist or student of photojournalism over the age of 18 may apply. Candidates do not need to be professional photojournalists, however, they must demonstrate an ability to successfully conceive and complete their grant project.

When can I apply?

Applications will be accepted between September 10, 2017 through November 20, 2017.

The grant period will be from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

How do I apply?

Applicants must complete an online application, including a personal statement, a link to a 35-50 picture online portfolio of both single and multi-image stories, and a project proposal for the grant.

What should my project proposal include?

A focused project about a subject in a community or location close to you that you can reasonably complete within a few weeks or months is advisable. In your proposal, please explain what your project is and include concrete details how you will achieve it.

When will I know if I've been selected?

Successful candidates will be contacted by the end of December regarding next steps. Please note: due to the thousands of applications we anticipate to receive, we may not be able to reply directly to every applicant, however, we will do our best and thank you for your patience and understanding.
