Project Summary:
We are seeking to recruit Application Support Engineer to support our Infrastructure, production data and applications. This position is based out of Bangalore, supporting Global locations in the UK, Americas and Asia. This Position will involve managing 100's of servers with various critical Thomson Reuters Applications.
The Team manage a diverse range of services which reside on predominantly Windows and UNIX servers. The team manages both pre production and production environments. The role involves close liaison with application development, networks, security, management systems, storage and database teams.
The support position is Level 2 working in 24 x 7 Shifts and should maintain high technical troubleshooting skills as well as play an important role in problem resolution.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- The Selected Level 2 Candidate would be responsible for the below activities in a 24x7 Shift schedule format
- Manage production environments.
- Major work would be on handling Thomson Reuters application installations and troubleshoot application issues.
- Application patching, applying product specific application fixes on Assembly and Production systems.
- End to End application/product testing.
- Troubleshooting Tibco Messaging issues.
- Work on UNIX server OS issues.
- Maintain strong links with 1st Level groups as well as Development groups.
- Maintain system software and apply service patches as required.
- Maintain relationships with integrators to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Management of change required to support product enhancement and growth.
- Provision and maintenance of documentation on system configurations, databases, define methods of working and daily operational procedures.
- Co-ordination and liaison with operational, product, and development groups in support of projects for business continuity or service enhancements.
- To follow defined project, implementation and support processes.
- To follow departmental change management procedures in defining, planning and implementing change in such a way that service disruption is minimized, and adherence to Service Level Agreements is ensured.
- To follow defined incident and problem management procedures in order to log and track issues relating to past problems until satisfactory resolution.
- On-call responsibilities is required for this Role
- Perform related duties as assigned or requested.
- Perform the Incident root cause analysis.
- Liaison with application development, networks, security, management systems, storage and database teams for resolving respective issues.
- Determine and correctly resolve server related issues and incidents in a timely manner
- Have the ability to run with projects/issues solo as well as work in a team environment
Qualifications
Education: Possess a University degree or equivalent, preferably in Computer Science/Technology or Engineering.
Experience:
3+yrs of exp in IT
Skills Required:
- Tibco Messaging experience is an added advantage.
- Experience with IIS Web Applications - 2 years
- IBM Blades and HP Blades-Configuration and Troubleshooting
- Good Understanding On RAID 0,1,5 and 10
- Good experience on hardware like IBM, Dell and HP.
- Good Understanding of networking concepts and topologies.
- Good English communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and within the team as well as with their peers all over global locations.
- A background in ITIL process is a key advantage.
- Any prior Application support knowledge is an added advantage.
Desired Skills:
Active Directory and DNS Knowlegde-1 to 2 Years
Cisco Layer 2 Switches- Configuration and Troubleshooting-1 to 2 Years.
CSS-content Services switch- 1year -Good to have but not mandatory
SQL Knowledge-1 Year Good to have but not mandatory
