Short Job Description:
The E-Commerce technology team works on cutting-edge Java technologies to provide eCommerce solutions for the Professional and Markets division of Thomson Reuters. The incumbent will participate within a motivated team to deliver full front to back solutions for the business. Development responsibilities will include the design and development of solutions at all levels of the architectural stack. The candidate must show that they can deliver solutions within an agile development process that focuses on short iterations and high-quality code.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Encourage and promote innovation and the use of technology to meet and exceed business goals.
· Technically participate in complex projects, including estimating requirements, systems design, solution development
· Advocate Agile development best practices and proactively offer improvements
· Champion test driven development and other initiatives to build in quality to development deliverables
· Mentor less experienced team members
· Challenge ways of doing things, offer new ideas and present in a variety of forums; one on one, group settings, etc.
· Solve complex problems and technical ambiguity
· Work with the business teams to help define requirements
· Collaborate across departments to troubleshoot and correct software and systems issues
· Acquire and grow technical skills for professional development
· Communicate in a professional manner with staff, peers, senior staff, and internal or external customers
· Show a demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, processes and systems quickly
· Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation for assigned tasks and projects
· Conduct informal training for team members on new topics in technology
· Show innovative problem solving, data analysis, design and testing skills
· Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team environment
· Ensure work meets functionality and quality expectations within given timelines
· Create design and support documentation
· Maintain software solutions developed by you and other team members
· Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring problems
· Offer ideas for quality and process improvements that align with the organization’s goals
Assist in the implementation of new practices, processes and tools
Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- 7+ years of object oriented design and development experiences in Java and web technologies including Java 5 (and above), XML, JSON, HTML, SQL, JavaScript, Eclipse, Websphere, Tomcat
- Demonstrated experience with the Spring Framework, including Spring MVC and ideally Spring Security
- 7+ years experience with relational databases such as MSSQL Server or Oracle
- Knowledge and use of unit testing applications such as JUnit and EasyMock
- Experience using commercial ecommerce packages and supporting technologies like Endeca
- Experience with agile development processes
- Experience with multi-tier application design and development and knowledge of design patterns
- Experience using and creating web services in both SOAP and REST with XML and JSON
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong problem solving, analysis, design, and testing skills
- Quick learner, eager to leverage new technologies in a dynamic team environment
