Position overview
Responsible for administration functions required to support global Production systems and services, including Windows-2003 and Windows-2008 servers.
Duties and responsibilities
- Troubleshooting and problem resolution of all global Production systems and services
- Monitoring and support of the day-to-day operations and availability of Thomson Reuters Windows Server environments
- Building, installing, configuring and maintaining Windows-2003 and Windows-2008 servers in a multi – Domain environment
- Maintain and optimize operating systems and related software to ensure stable performance
- Hardware and software component upgrades and updates
- Providing support and assisting Application support and other SBU groups in problem resolution
- Collaborate with business, application support and other TechOps groups in determining appropriate hardware/software needed to adequately handle business needs
- Work with business segment and application support staff to manage software releases, product updates and to apply security patches to ensure systems functionality and stability
- Perform hardware/software upgrades and troubleshoot system-related problems when necessary
- Author and revise documentation of environment and operational procedures
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties, as needed
- 24 X 7 system support, including on-site and remote management
- Pager rotation and on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Solid hands-on experience with Windows servers in a medium to large scale environment
- Overall knowledge and understanding of Backup software
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining server hardware
- Hands-on experience setting up, installing and configuring server components
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP principles and LAN technology
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools and SNMP
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skill set
- Must be able to work independently, under minimum supervision
- Must be able to plan, organize, and prioritize work schedule
- Travel to other GEO centers required, as needed
Requirements (desired)
Windows Certifications; Experience with TPM, SPT, BigFix, IBM and HP chassis, Citrix, VMWare and Egenera are a plus.
