Description

The Technology Information Security Risk Management (ISRM) group protects the information assets of Thomson Reuters through managing risk, deploying effective security risk framework and ensuring regulatory compliance.

We are looking for a Information Security Architect (ISA) who will be responsible for ensuring that the design of business solutions meets security and compliance mandates. The ISA partners with stakeholders across the organization to securely achieve the functional requirements of business initiatives. The ISA is the technical authority on information security architecture within the organization and will report directly into the Director, Product Security Architecture.

Responsibilities:
- Support a strategic security architecture vision, including standards and frameworks that are aligned with overall business strategy.
- Work closely with ISRM, enterprise architecture, and infrastructure and operations teams.
- Review existing product architecture, identify design gaps, and recommend security enhancements.
- Participate in solution architecture design; lead security efforts assisting with the integration and initial implementation of solutions.
- Ensure product security architecture meets compliance requirements, including: Goverment regulations e.g. US FISMA, Global data privacy requirements, etc.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the information security strategy.
- Serve as information security subject matter expert; provide advisory and consulting services as needed.
- Understand current as well as emerging security threats and design security architecture to mitigate threats where possible.

Qualifications

Role Requirements:
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Information Security or related field or equivalent experience; MBA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of technical information security related experience
- Expert level knowledge of information security principals and technologies.
- Experience designing and implementing security solutions.
- Strong, proven problem-solving skills and ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems, driving solutions through to completion.
- Ability to translate complex security technical information to non-technical audience.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a team, delivering high performance and customer satisfaction in a global, matrix-management environment.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business drivers and priorities into security design.
- Excellent presentation skills; Excellent written and verbal business English.

Main Purpose of Role:

Lead Solutions Architect, Life Sciences

The Solutions Architect is responsible for overseeing the team responsible for the technical design of Life Sciences (LS) web delivery products, mainly Cortellis. He will ensure that solutions delivered meet both business requirements as well as Thomson Reuter’s platform architecture goals. Responsible for both hardware and Java based software, the Lead Solutions Architect is a driver for progress within the London teams.

Responsibilities

The Solutions Architect has four main responsibilities:

Team Leadership
- Coach and mentor a team of solutions architects and innovators, developing skills and encouraging personal growth
- Drive performance of all team members towards shared objectives

Architecture
- Own the technical architecture of Cortellis, including design of components, systems and tier exchanges
- Working with the central infrastructure teams, shape key hardware and infrastructure decisions for the platform
- Technical leadership of the internal operations team ensuring a broader outlook for infrastructure decisions to support development objectives.
- Communicate platform design to the development teams and other stakeholders across Thomson Reuters
- Ensure that solutions are consistent with wider LS and Thomson Reuters technical standards
Innovation and Prototyping
- Propose new technical approaches or the use of new 3rd party software to meet product challenges
- Work with team members to build proof of concept applications to satisfy key necessary technical points prior to design, both hands-on and by managing the work of developers
- Validate applicability of new technologies and partner applications through prototyping and customer demos

Duties and responsibilities:
- Act as the key contact & take ownership of the technical design of components on the Life Sciences platform.
- Create architectural design documents and artifacts as necessary
- Review discuss architecture proposals with the rest of the development team
- Collaborate on cross-Thomson Reuters architecture and design projects with Enterprise architecture as required
- Participate in Thomson Reuters governance for 3rd party software, licensing, and platform architecture decisions
- Identify opportunities to share technical and architecture resources (code, services) within and outside the business
- Independently research and assess web-application related technologies, paradigms and frameworks for potential use in new and/or existing products.
- Manage Proof of Concepts and prototypes to justify feasibility recommendations
- Oversee technical feasibility studies of proposed functional specifications for web-based applications
- Undertake responsibility for governing which new functionalities & technologies proposed are approved for use on the Life Sciences platform.
- design & steer technical direction on projects to implement new functional components as required

- Partner with business/technology leadership to envision content enabled workflow technology which sets the strategic direction of the business
- Collaborate closely with Thomson Reuters technology groups including Data Center, Corporate and Platform groups, Content Marketplace, and other Architect communities within Thomson Reuters to understand resources and assets available to the GRC business

We are looking for Java expert who will play a part in creating a world class search experience for Thomson Reuter’s flagship product Eikon.
Successful candidate will join a team of highly qualified developers and will be responsible for delivery of new content into search system. Experience in developing ETL tools or good skills around AB-initio is a deciding factor for this position.

Responsibilities:
- Leverage his/her refined skills working with product and business teams, transforming business goals and requirements into reality.
- Lead all facets of the software development lifecycle. This would include specifications, algorithms, implementation, production deployments and operations.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
- Excellent programming skills in Java.
- Experience in developing of ETL tools or software designed to process and manipulate by data of significant size (100's of Gb)
- Good Unix scripting skills and experience of Solaris/Linux
- Experience with large volume data processing.
- Good data modelling skills, understanding relational data models and databases, MySQL skills
- Strong skills and experience in building and delivering robust large-scale backend applications in Java
- Candidate should possess solid understanding of enterprise architecture, SOA, design patterns and have significant experience in designing and developing enterprise scale systems.
- Candidate should be a software engineer with high emotional intelligence who sets high and exacting standards and demands the best work of their team.
- Must have effective communication and collaboration skills.

Desired Skills:
- Experience of agile development methodology and tools ideally Scrum and Jira.
- Excellent programming skills in Ab Initio Co-op V3.
- Experience with continuous build tools like Jenkins
- Experience programming in Junit
- Experience of business driven development testing
- Experience with Ab Initio Meta programming and continuous flows is a plus
- Experience of implement mini batch application in Ab Initio is a plus
- Exposure to financial industry is desirable
