Description

This is a key role that responsible for Thomson Reuters LAN network globally, specific to EIKON infrastructure, our core product serve worldwide customers. We are looking for an expert in network area to manage complex global network (over 10,000 switches, and over 1,000 pairs of firewalls) and experienced in corporate culture with strong English and communication skill to cooperate with internal customer and colleagues in US, and UK.

This role will work on various network hardware/software but biased towards Cisco Routers, Switches and Load balancers and to ensure that network devices are implemented, maintained and highly available as deployed for the business' applications. This role is a global role and required to produce documentation for all Thomson Reuters sites.

Brief Job Description
- Work closely with Network Architect to understand and comply with Network architectural standards.
- Work closely with Solution Architect, and Product Architect or developer to understand the business requirement.
- Work closely with project management teams to ensure that project deliverables are understood and timescales are met.
- Translate business requirement to detail or Low Level network design.
- Produce a detailed documentation set that includes implementation instructions for handover to implementation resources, implementation of configuration on customer-facing devices.
- Act in the capacity of a senior network engineer working on tasks, incidents, projects throughout the Thomson Reuters datacenter networks per approved change window and architectural guidelines.
- Update/maintain all documentation requested by management and will be tasked with improving such documentation as required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
- 2-15 years experience in Enterprise or complex network environment.
- Hands-on experience in Network / switching / routing.
- Knowledge of Checkpoint Firewall is an advantage.
- Strong or excellent communication skill in English.
- Able to work in Global environment and culture, with flexible hour concept.
Desired Qualifications (nice to have):
- Familiarity with ITIL processes is a plus.
- CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDA and CCDP are nice to have.

- Strong understanding of the OSI model and the interaction of application layer protocols with TCP, UDP, IP and Layer 2 (5+ years)

The Real Time Implementation Infrastructure Deployment Team manage the delivery of Infrastructure requirements for all new Elektron POPs, Elektron capacity hardware upgrades and IDN hardware upgrades globally. The role of the Infrastructure deployment engineer is a varied one working with many internal and external stakeholders, they have end to end ownership to ensure that the delivery from initial requirements and design all the way through to testing and hand-off to regional Implementation teams is achieved in a timely, coordinated and controlled manner.
- Assisting technical Architect and Planner with elements of planning and related documentation.
- Interpreting of individual site scoping documents and translating the designs to ‘on-the-ground’ deployments, then acting as Real Time tech
representative in meetings with 3rd party site management vendors (Savvis, BT, Exchange etc.) to make sure our requirements are met.
- Document all site requirements and disseminate information to stakeholders.
- Act as technical liaison and escalation path on the project for Vendors such as HP during their phase of the work, sorting out any inter-
vendor issues onsite.
- Take possession of the new PoP from HP and run testing programmes of work against it liaising with HP and TR internal to fix any
issues in the PoP.
- Liaising and managing 3rd party vendors for all HW swap outs prior to handing over the PoP to Implementation.
- Liaise with vendors to get all relevant data to hand in order to fill in TR related documentation e.g. Asset Proforma. and ensure all
documentation is available readily for relevant personnel to take ownership for delivery.
- Liaise with L3/Dev to source doc sets for HP/Cisco/other kit and extract data from said doc sets to populate TR related documentation
- Create deployment diagrams and doc sets (including testing scripts, cable matrices, etc) .
- Complete site profile documents and deficiency handover lists ready for handover to the various internal Implementation teams.
- Handover PoP to Implementation and complete all outstanding items on DHL ready for acceptance from Implementation amd Support teams
- Manage logistics for upgrade weekends such as access to vendors (HP/BT) during upgrades, confirmation on the availability of the
resources and hardware.
- Performing the install/upgrade activities managing onsite Vendor and internal teams on weekends. Testing the server/applications, links etc as
per testing scripts, troubleshooting issues and completeing required post checks.

Position Overview

This position is to provide Technical Implementation and support within a team focused on the service delivery of products, systems & networks within the Data Scope suite of products/ infrastructures. Driving down incident rates and working with 1st line Operations to improve service recovery times. To ensure that all aspects of operability are delivered as part of the implementation process while ensuring that existing service levels are maintained or improved. Ensure full compliance to operational standards, procedures and best practice. This involves close liaison with various operational, project, development and product teams as well working within the Service Organization to ensure ongoing service and support can be maintained to agreed service levels.

Essential Responsibilities
Implement BAU changes and new hardware and software builds
Resolve incidents escalated from 1st level operation and application teams
Create and update documentation of system configurations, work instructions, and service recovery plan
Provide training to 1st level operation team
Execute site failover test and DR process
Manage IRT's and perform role of recovery manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED Skills and Experience

At least 2 years of experience in Windows Servers and applications (MS Cluster, IIS) administration
2-5 years expertise in Unix. Preferably Solaris.
Good knowledge of local and wide area networking
Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work with global teams as well as individually with minimum supervision
Ability to work in a flexible schedule

PREFERRED Skills and Experience

Knowledge of ITIL process
Experience with Management Systems such as Tivoli
Previous experience working in complex and mission critical environment
Knowledge of Veritas software
Knowledge of Thomson Reuters products such as RMDS, MLIP, and 3000 Xtra

Education / Certifications
Example: Bachelor's Degree or equivilant required; MBA preferred.
