<item><title>Facilities Data Center Technician - Building Engineer (3rd shift, 8pm-8am) Job (Eagan, MN, US)</title><description><![CDATA[<b>Title:</b>Facilities Data Center Technician - Building Engineer (3rd shift, 8pm-8am)<br/><b>ID:</b>TEC00028642<br/><br/></b><b>Description</b><br/><br/><b>Critical Services Engineering Technician</b><br/><br/><b>Primary Objectives</b>:<br/>Professionally deliver a variety of technical services and operational support that is required to provide a highly reliable data center environment. This complex and dynamic global data center operates 24x7 and is the foundation from which our business operates. <br/><br/>This is a 3rd shift position requiring individuals to work 8pm-8am. <br/><br/><b>Major Areas of Accountabilities:</b><br/>- Maintain and repair the numerous mechanical, electrical, security and fire protection systems found in our sophisticated data center environment. These facility systems support the mission critical Information Technology systems (servers, mainframes and storage) that are used to operate the business. (25%)<br/>- Assist with the proper installation of computer and networking systems within the data center. The installation of these systems is usually performed at night and on weekends. This work must be completed with the highest degree of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail in order to meet overall site reliability requirements. (10%) <br/>- Coordinate, inspect and verify the work of external contractors and technicians. All work must be completed in a safe, effective and reliable manner. (10%)<br/>- Perform necessary testing and commissioning on all new components, equipment and systems that are installed in the data center environment. Investigate and troubleshoot problems with equipment to determine root cause of breakdown/failure (10%)<br/>- Use of instruments such as volt/ohm meter, laptop computer, oscilloscope, amp meter and power analyzer on a consistent basis to assist with maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. Operate a variety of power equipment and power tools to perform required duties. (10%)<br/>- Interacts with all parts of the organization to respond to a variety of service requests. Perform any and all work, apparent or assigned, to prevent accidents, business interruption and/or customer dissatisfaction. (10%)<br/>- Inspect, monitor, document and report the condition of the numerous systems that make up the data center facility. This is done to ensure the proper operation of the entire data center system. Proficiency in the use of the numerous building/system automation and monitoring systems is critical. This role is responsible for expanding ITAM&#8217;s purview to include the &#8220;why&#8221; behind technology spend across the entire organization and cost structures and their underlying cost drivers.<br/><br/><b>Major Objectives and Areas of Accountability</b><br/>- Continuously drive improvement of core inventory data and processes (always revaluating which assets need to be tracked and managed, and improving data quality or processes).<br/>- Drive to expand ITAM beyond its current state, and begin to focus on the next level of maturity.<br/>- Coordinate and validate data required to enforce existing contract terms and licensing.<br/>- Lead the team in gathering cost information, which requires collaboration with finance and procurement, as access to their systems and processes as needed.<br/>- Own the coordination and validation of cross-organizational cost information.<br/>- Software asset management and license compliance.<br/>- Lease or depreciation management.<br/>- Create agile ITAM solutions to support virtual, capacity based and cloud computing models.<br/>- Oversee inventory management, which requires collaboration with the operations department.<br/>- Asset lifecycle management, including providing accurate and timely supporting data to enable optimal decisions on asset deployment, management, and retirement/disposition.<br/>- Oversee the ITAM discipline across the organization to ensure process integration is effective by using governance and metrics to make certain there is accountability.<br/>- Provide spend and demand management information to assist in: vendor negotiations, cost analysis, supplier relationships, budget and forecasting exercises, asset portfolios, and chargeback information based on asset consumption.<br/>- Provide asset reports to identify and quantify financial effects on application upgrades to provide a complete view.<br/>- Provide information to manage the production asset portfolio (vs. assets used by a business or a specific project) to improve visibility of asset life cycle management across IT and business units.<br/>- Provide accurate asset costing data to the organization&#8217;s service catalog to help the business units associate a cost with each IT service catalog element.<br/><b> </b><br/><br/><b>Responsibility for Work of Others</b><br/>- Directs the performance and development efforts of the entire asset management team.<br/>- Works with team members to define career development plans and ensures the resources are available for them to progress according to the plan.<br/>- Conducts performance reviews, recommends candidates for promotion and manages performance improvement plans as necessary.<br/><b>Financial Responsibility</b><br/>- Manage significant budgetary responsibilities.<br/>- Share asset information to executive leadership, and use such information to make recommendations on how to control and optimize hardware and software costs and mitigate related risks.<br/><br/>We are the leading source of intelligent information for the world's businesses and professionals, providing customers with competitive advantage.
