Qualifications

Requirements/Education and Previous Work Experience Requirements:
- Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
- Zero to two years progressive finance or accounting experience including interaction with corporate and business unit management
- Exposure to SAP or other integrated financial systems preferred
Knowledge and Skills Inventory:
- Basic knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
- Knowledge of general reporting, reconciliations, expense analysis, and journal entry preparation
- Analytical skills in accounting and finance; strong detail orientation
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Manage multiple priorities with competing demands for time and resources to successfully meet project and schedule deadlines
- Strong collaborator in a team environment; ability to effectively build relationships
- SAP, Data Warehouse, Business Objects, Cognos and SAS FM knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Travel on a domestic and international basis as required; estimated to be less than 15%
- CPA or CMA preferred

This position is responsible for performing accounting activities and providing information for the consolidation of financial results for Thomson Reuters Strategic Business Units (SBUs) on a monthly basis and partners with other colleagues to leverage systems and resources. The individual in this role provides general accounting support and makes recommendations for improving accounting activities, processes, and the collection, consolidation, and reporting of financial-performance information.

The Staff Accountant II position supports the Finance team’s efforts to provide analysis for the SBUs across the Thomson Reuters organization. This role will report to the Senior Accountant and will work closely with SBU and colleagues across the world to ensure that business requirements are supported appropriately.

Primary Areas of Accountability:
- Process and support general ledger transactions for SBU customers; maintain responsibility for month-end close and related project activities
- Perform moderate to complex accounting and reconciliation functions
- Prepare key financial reports and schedules for Thomson Reuters SBUs
- Demonstrate appropriate application of IFRS, GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory requirements; help ensure accounting practices follow Thomson Reuters policies
- Integrate functions, processes and systems within AO to optimize resources and create value
General Areas of Accountability:
- Provide reliable, value based information to internal and external customers on a timely basis
- Work with business partners to leverage knowledge and capabilities to resolve financial issues for Thomson Reuters SBUs
- Develop, enhance and deliver existing and new performance measurements/metrics and utilize dashboard capabilities for distribution to a wider audience within the Controllership function
