Reuters is looking for an energetic journalist to cover Canada's busy capital markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing insightful market reports at a time when the currency is under focus due to tense NAFTA negotiations and the Bank of Canada continues on its gradual tightening path. The job also requires producing smart, ahead-of-the-curve analysis on Canadian bond and forex markets and working with colleagues on company news and macro reporters to write in-depth stories.
The successful candidate should be able to cover, in addition to markets, everything from central bank speeches to federal and provincial budgets. The candidate will need to build strong relationships with market participants, be confident dealing with senior bankers and policy makers and work well in a team. The role would suit an enthusiastic reporter capable of identifying new information and fresh angles on an important area.
This role will report to the Canada Deputy Bureau Chief.
