Role Summary:

We are looking for a Mobile Software Developer to join the Thomson Reuters Elite – Mobile & Workspace team.  The ideal candidate will have broad experience with Mobile development using the Microsoft Xamarin tools including Visual Studio and Xamarin studio for Mac.  A strong understanding of the .Net framework, Mobile Development and C# is required.  Working closely with the system architects, Product Managers and UK team based in Northamptonshire the majority of development is going to be .NET development with C# using the Xamarin tools.

We are also looking for someone who is well versed with agile development methodologies.

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Design and develop applications using the Xamarin tools and .NET Framework.
  • Play a key role in the complete software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, unit testing and debugging, and documentation. 
  • Participate in product requirement and design reviews with product managers and other engineers. 
  • Perform in a scrum team role effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Responsible for designing and implementing applications based on a varying degree of functional specifications.
  • Be able to quickly adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Develop time-estimates for work assignments.
  • Accurately determine, assign, track and manage project task, activity, documentation, time information per internal standards.
  • In conjunction with team architects and business analysts understand high level business requirements and produce technical specifications, designs and architectures.
  • Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during design, development and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions.
  • Work with other teams members effectively and with minimal supervision.

Key Relationships:

Working alongside developers on site and in remote locations and also the architects and product managers on the analysis, design and delivery of new features.

Attend occasional customer meetings when necessary and interface with partners.

Essential Skills/Experience Required:

  • Design and develop IOS & Android applications using the Xamarin toolset.
  • Understanding of modern software architectures.
  • Understand high level business requirements and produce technical specifications, designs and architectures.
  • Well versed in web services technologies
  • Experience with Visual Studio
  • Experience with Apple & Windows Operating systems
  • Comfortable with complex data structures and algorithms, and absorbing new technologies quickly
  • Knowledge of Cloud deployment architectures

Desired Skills/Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of the Legal Industry
  • Experience of Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and Unit Test Frameworks including TestCloud
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server
  • Knowledge of Elite 3E or MatterSphere products
  • Can work in a test-driven development environment.

Education/ Certifications: (Specific degrees and/or certifications (denote required or preferred))

  • BS computer science, or equivalent work experience
  • Enterprise software development experience using the .Net platform & C#.
