German Online Producer

You and your team:

Reuters is looking for a new-media journalist to join the German online desk in Gdynia. If successful, you will join a close-knit team responsible for producing multimedia packages for our German media clients. You must have strong German and English language skills and a clear-sighted news judgment to select and package news stories with relevant pictures, videos and graphics. A small part of your job will also involve reporting news on German companies and feeding German language diaries with top international events.

Reuters is one of the world's largest and most credible business and news websites and it serves large and small Internet clients. The multimedia packages will be produced for our media clients, including major newspapers, online portals and television channels. The candidate will also manage the German language website of Reuters and will work closely with other Reuters editorial staff in deciding what the top stories will be on everything from politics, business, markets, economy & central banks and company news.

In your role you will be responsible for:

  • Applying news judgment and picking relevant news for German audience and package it for Reuters News online clients
  • Manage the German language Reuters website
  • Create multimedia packages with text, pictures, graphics and videos
  • Selecting Reuters pictures for every news entry in Eikon Top News Page and
  • Feeding German Language Diaries with major German and international events in company news, economics, central banks and politics
  • Translate news content from German to English, and English to German

Qualifications – What you need to bring?

  • Advanced German and English
  • Strong translation skills: English à German and German à English
  • Strong interest in news in general and German politics, economics and companies in specific; good news judgment
  • A sound command of grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Basic knowledge of multimedia journalism
  • Willingness to undertake shifts
  • Knowledge of corporate activity, stock markets and financial vocabulary, or an ability to gain such knowledge quickly
  • An ability to work under time pressure
