Information Security Intern

Job Description

The Information Security & Risk Management (ISRM) organization is seeking a high-energy, motivated Computer Science or Cyber Security student to join our Security Services Software Engineering team located in downtown Richmond.

The Security Services Software Engineering team is responsible for building software products that supports the Thomson Reuters ISRM organization spanning Identity, Incident Response, Cyber Intelligence, DLP, and Compliance & Audit functions.

The intern will be fully integrated into our team’s Agile methodology, working side by side with other software engineers aligned to our team’s prioritized backlog. Below are notable opportunities the candidate could work on depending on the start date and length of the internship:

  • Build integrations between our Security Automation & Orchestration (SA&O) platform and TR-wide enterprise platform APIs to enable the codification of security processes.
  • Feature enhancements to our custom employee-facing registration & management portal for Multi-factor Authentication (MFA).
  • Integrate our ISRM vendor risk management platform with our enterprise procurement platform to streamline the vendor risk evaluation process.
  • Build out improved monitoring, alerting, and data visualization across our product portfolio leveraging open source and public cloud tools.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with at least one programming language (preferably Go, Java, or Python)
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems
  • An ability to quickly pick up and learn new technologies
  • Good personal communication skills
  • Experience with cloud computing technologies & concepts
  • Experience with writing unit and functional tests
  • Experience working with APIs
