Sr. Associate Editor, Corporate M&A

Practical Law is looking for a bright and driven individual to join our Corporate and M&A editorial team. The ideal candidate has experience as an M&A associate in a top law firm. A strong desire to work in the legal publishing industry and solid writing experience are strongly preferred.

This person will be responsible for drafting deal summaries and analyzing trends for our What's Market M&A databases.

Primary responsibilities include:               

  • Drafting summaries of public merger agreements and private acquisition agreements (private merger agreements and stock and asset purchase agreements).  
  • Drafting What’s Market practice notes and other resources highlighting current market trends.
  • Providing additional support to the Corporate and M&A team as required. 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • J.D. from an accredited institution.
  • Three or more years' experience in a law firm, including:
    • Comprehensive understanding of general public and private M&A practices.
    • Comprehensive understanding of current market issues.
    • Familiarity with corporate documentation.
    • Recent experience drafting and negotiating public and/or private M&A documentation.
    • Familiarity with overall corporate transaction process.
    • Familiarity with SEC website (EDGAR).
  • Excellent writing and drafting skills including:
    • Very close attention to detail.
    • Excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English.
    • Ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and succinctly.
  • Analytical and research skills and ability to identify key information from sources.
  • Ability to work efficiently and within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent IT, administrative, and organization skills.
  • Excellent team working skills.
