Quality Engineer (New York, NY)

Job Duties:

  • Apply principles of engineering to perform Functional Testing, Automation testing of Web, API and Mobile applications.
  • Involve in creating and executing advanced test strategies and work closely with Product and Development teams to evaluate, report on, and improve the quality of products in test.
  • Test Planning, Test Designing, Test execution and generating Test Report for each release.
  • Communicate with other teams to analyze the dependencies with respect to each release and take sign off with them.
  • Review and provide feedback on product requirements, and execute test cases and report on test results.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum and perform continuous integration and automation tasks
  • Perform Functional, GUI, Component, Database, System, UAT, Integration, Regression, Smoke, Sanity, Browser compatibility and exploratory testing.
  • Test Active and Passive compliance components. Perform end2end testing and validate product requirements.
  • Scan source control for developer changes. Monitor source control check-in and checkouts.
  • Test Automation with Selenium Web Driver and Test NG in Java using data/keyword driven framework.
  • Test Automation with JMeter (Beanshell scripting) using data/keyword driven framework.
  • Non functional testing using JMeter
  • Use build tools, continuous integration practices, version management.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues at database level. Ability to write short SQL queries for testing, root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Deploy database and setup test data via databases.
  • Use Agile based tools for defect management, Test case management suites, Test and QA plan preparation. Preparing Test environments.
  • Cross team interactions and participating in Scrum Stand-ups.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues related to protocol, web services and administration portal. Perform network level debugging and protocol inspection for root cause analysis. Report on project progress and risk to project stakeholders.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improved efforts in delivering quality solutions. Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues on linux environment, and report on project progress and risk to project stakeholders.

Position requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field followed by 5 years of experience in a software development quality assurance-related occupation.  Experience must include the following, which may be gained concurrently:

5 years of experience in Functional and Non functional testing of Web applications, APIs, Database and Mobile applications. 5 years of experience in software development life cycles, including Agile and Quality Assurance Processes.  5 years of experience in Automation Tools and Technologies including Selenium Web Driver , TestNG, JAVA, SoupUI and JMeter. 3 years of experience with database technologies - SQL, MySQL and SQL Management Studio. 3 years of experience with cross browser testing techniques and strategies including HTML/XHTML/AJAX call validation and Application compatibility. 3 years of experience with like SIP or XMPP and with debugging protocol and network level debugging. 3 years of experience in validation of compliance systems. 3 years of experience in Linux, including Linux file systems commands (df,lsof,ls), Linux package managers (RPM,Zypper,tar), linux networking (netstat,telnet,tcpdump,netcat), DNS lookup commands and configs (nslookup,resolv.conf ), Vi, FTP and SFTP commands, Linux SSH commands including  ssh, sshpass, MySQL running in linux(mysqladmin, mysql, mysqld), Linux openssl certificates command (openssl, grep, inittab file configuration), Java execution and configuration under linux, stunnel. 1 year of experience in source control system, including SVN and GIT.
