Overview

Thomson Reuters is looking for a motivated, self-starting full stack Systems Architect, who is interested in working with Big Data and graph technologies. This role involves working with Thomson Reuters Data Fusion and Graph Feed platforms, a hybrid of big data and linked data technologies, which our clients use to integrate their data with Thomson Reuters Knowledge Graph and find new insights.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing existing deployments both in our cloud (AWS) as well as on-prem physical client servers.
  • Assist the development team with upgrade of existing and integration of new technologies into our software stack. 
  • Contribute to the overall architecture of the software stack, recommend and implement improvements.
  • Provide recommendations to clients on the deployment and configuration of our software solutions according to our hardware/software support policies.
  • Assist clients and customer support in troubleshooting systems to determine actions for the client for support or change management recommendations.
  • Work to complete project tasks on time and to the highest quality standards in support of customer projects.

Essential qualifications

  • Strong understanding of the Linux operating system including networking.
  • Ability to quickly identify problems and bottlenecks with both stand-alone systems and across clusters of machines.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Ability to manage and debug complex software stacks (Hadoop, Apache Tomcat, HTTPD, Solr, ZooKeeper, Accumulo, Redis, PostgreSQL).
  • Proficiency in Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and automation.
  • Experience using source control management (git).
  • Strong sense of professionalism and solid writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as this role has a client-facing component.

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of semantic web technologies, e.g., SPARQL, RDF.
  • Previous experience in Big Data (Hadoop) environment
  • Cloud computing exposure
  • Prior experience in an Architect/DevOps role in a complex technical environment
