Job Description

The Tax & Accounting Business of Thomson Reuters delivers technology to corporations and businesses that increases efficiency and saves vast amounts of time.

Reporting to the CTO, the Director of User Experience Design will lead and inspire a team of 35+ UX professionals to deliver a holistic end-to-end experience for our customers.  This position will oversee the UX design of the Tax & Accounting business’ large product portfolio. Our diverse and sophisticated Enterprise web and mobile products are built for global reach and many of our clients are transforming to a digital and service oriented delivery model. Our mission is to design software that enables tax professionals around the globe to be productive like never before.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, enhance, motivate, and retain world class UX and Design team
  • Build business cases and communicate plans to senior management
  • Participate in budget planning and resource estimation
  • Evolve the design organization to meet the demand of the business and our customers
  • Oversee the project management and delivery of all UX engagements
  • Lead the discovery of unmet user needs and collaborate with the business to drive the direction of the product and service experience
  • Provide creative direction and oversee the design enhancements of Bento, our HTML components library, as well as our pattern and style guide
  • Develop an Omni-channel strategy that considers usage analytics, accessibility and mobile/responsive for all digital deliveries
  • Partner with marketing and sales to deliver an end to end client experience that considers all touch points of the customer journey
  • Evangelize design throughout the organization and foster a culture of innovation, including the organization of conferences, workshops and speaker sessions
  • Manage a matrixed organization and set of responsibilities across peers and stakeholders supporting different but similar business lines and users
  • Lead engagements with external agencies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a design-related discipline
  • 10+ years in user experience design
  • 5+ years in leading increasingly large design teams
  • 3+ years in an agency or large multi-product line company
  • In-depth experience with the entire UX process, including discovery, design thinking, qualitative and quantitative user research, customer journey mapping, service design and blue printing, visual design and prototyping
  • Experience with developing design systems
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of design across the products and other customer touch points
  • Ability to build business cases for design, including making ROI arguments
  • Inspirational, influential and persuasive communicator with the ability to convey ideas and concepts to both business and technical audiences at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of UI development best practices and the latest technology trends
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices
  • Basic knowledge of usage analysis
  • 20% travel required

 Candidate must provide a portfolio with work samples of individual work and of the teams he/she led in the past.
