Job Description

High-profile, high-impact, “internal open source” team seeks sophisticated UI craftsperson.

Our bespoke components are curated into an effective suite also comprising external Open Source. We collaborate directly with partners at Google and major commercial vendors. We serve an internal developer community that is large (1000+) and geographically diverse (16 time zones).

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuous improvement and evolution of existing components
  • Implement and test new components
  • Documentation, demonstration samples, public presentations
  • Consultation with Design and Business partners on planning, technical design, and feasibility assessment
  • Thought leadership and judicious technical guidance to general developer community
  • Build, packaging, and deployment with internal cloud services

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of excellence in the relevant domains
  • Very mature and nuanced grasp of the relevant domains
  • Multi-faceted professional with skills in engineering, technical writing, and customer service
  • Finger on the pulse of industry trends
  • Obsession with quality

An appropriate candidate will be:

  • A highly-experienced, senior-level developer
  • A software craftsperson
  • A writer of code comments and documentation, and creator of demos
  • A tutor and guide, capable of leading presentations
  • A mature individual capable of keeping several intersecting “big pictures” in mind at once

Minimum technical requirements

  • Fluency with Object Oriented and Functional programming paradigms
  • A track record of Test-Driven-Development
  • Superlative expertise with HTML5, CSS, CSS pre- and post-processing, JavaScript, Typescript, Angular 1, Angular 4+, capability to quickly pick up associated front-end tech
  • Unix/Linux command line competence with bash, ssh, rsync, permissions, basic web server configuration and static site deployment, NodeJS, Apache
  • Language and OS package managers such as bower, npm, yum/dnf, apt-get, homebrew
  • Build tools such as grunt, gulp, webpack, make
  • Creation, editing, and programming of raster and vector graphics, including SVG and icon fonts
