Job Description

Thomson Reuters is looking for a strategic, experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to join our newly formed demand center of excellence team in our Legal division.

In this position, you will be responsible for building out a lead prospecting team of 8+ Business Development Representatives (BDRs), 

This includes leading strategic initiatives that drive outbound lead generation, while mentoring team members and serving as the link between Sales and Marketing.

You will ideally be a hands-on manager, leading the team by example, giving direction and coaching BDRs on prospecting skills while meeting assigned goals. This role will report to the Director of Business Development and Sales Development.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain ongoing analysis of outbound lead generation performance and drive operational excellence through constant process innovation and creative incentives
  • Provide BDRs with a coaching cadence of time management, objection handling, prospecting tactics and upsell/cross sell training
  • Manage prospecting and lead generation tools and research new tools that will build efficiencies and improve return on investment
  • Provide thought leadership in identifying new opportunities to grow list size, outreach and utilization of existing customer database
  • Build a clear career development path for BDR’s to be promoted to an Account Executive role
  • Partner with sales and segment leaders to strategize and optimize entire sales pipeline activity
  • Continue to improve lead conversion process and Account Executive team hand off to ensure optimal customer experience
  • Collaborate with Marketing and CRM teams to use data and better inform team strategy, including segmentation and personalized outreach

PRIMARY PRODUCT: 

 You will support our main products like Westlaw, Practical Law, and Practical Law Connect focusing on our large and mid-size law firm market. Additionally, you will focus on building out a lead prospecting team for our software product, Legal Tracker. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; law degree preferred but not required
  • 2-4 years of management experience in lead prospecting type role
  • Experience growing and scaling a successful sales development and/or business development teams
  • Proven track record establishing, achieving or exceeding measurable goals
  • Experience successfully working cross-functionally across multiple departments within a company (i.e. Marketing, CRM)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SFDC, and CRM database experience
  • Leadership skills to drive performance, change management, growth and engagement
  • Positive, enthusiastic teammate
  • Ability to communicate and influence others over the phone and in person
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven success in a changing, fast paced environment
  • Organizational skills and operational mindset is required
