Senior Financial Analyst - Solutions Finance

Job Description

This position is responsible for providing financial decision support for several products within the Product Management & Editorial (PM&E) organization in Thomson Reuters Legal.  Key responsibilities include providing financial analysis and decision support, planning and forecasting, and month-end reporting for a number of Solutions products (currently including Firm Central, Contract Express, West LegalEdCenter, Live Events, Peer Monitor, ProDoc, and Rutter Seminars).  The position’s primary focus is on revenue, but also currently includes responsibility for a smaller expense budget.  This individual will be the primary finance point of contact for the relevant products.  This individual will work directly with key stakeholders (including Product Development, Product Marketing, Sales and Segment) for these products.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide value-add financial decision support for relevant products (currently listed above but subject to change based on needs of business and team)
  • Own the revenue reporting, planning and monthly forecasting process for the products, as well as applicable expenses for WLEC / Live Events
  • Responsible for evaluating risks and opportunities 
  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization and serve as primary finance contact for these products and presenting financial results
  • Support business requests, special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis   
  • Responsible for business case financial models as needed, including growth and enhancement cases 
  • Drive for process improvements to standardize and create efficiencies.    
  • Support the product life cycle approach, including completion of product profitability models
  • Partner with broader PM&E Finance team to support overall processes 

 Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting required, MBA preferred
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting / finance positions
  • Proven analytical skills with financial modeling and strategic analysis skills
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work on a team as well as independently to drive results
  • Project management skills with the ability to handle a diverse workload and competing priorities
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, quantitative and investigative skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills and ability to relate to senior management
  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and competing demands
  • Strong technical skills with proven ability to learn new applications as well as experience using spreadsheets and databases for reporting and analysis
  • Strong capabilities and experience in the use and application of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Business Objects, Hyperion, TROVE, SAP
