ECP Metadata Product Owner - Director

Thomson Reuters Technology Development 10/20/2017 2:58:50 PM Eagan, MN United States of America
Job Description

The Enterprise Content Platform (ECP) is an innovative technology platform and business direction for Thomson Reuters. ECP puts content from all Thomson Reuters’ businesses in a single place, fueling our growth as we acquire, store and use content as an enterprise. A single location for enterprise content coupled with the sharing of relationships between that content enables new business models, services and products. Imagine a product that allows an attorney to access company financial information that enables decision making on potential clients. Consider the possibilities of a data feed that co-mingles our financial content with a third party that provides customers with further insights into their product sector.

ECP is truly groundbreaking for Thomson Reuters. It will change the way we believe about information and content in the new data economy.

The ECP technology stack starts with big data technologies and extends those capabilities into the Cloud. ECP is an unusual industry and leading implementation of these technologies in their use as multitenant and secured clusters with shared content and functionality. We make it an enterprise environment by adding content replication and application resiliency with self service interfaces.

ECP is a ground breaking, exciting opportunity for engineers ready to learn new skills, solve hard problems and drive the Big Data industry forward. We are looking for engineers who want to be fully engaged in using technology to solve business problems.

The Enterprise Product Owner – Director defines the vision of the capability that drives the success of the ECP platform. The shared language and access to metadata – data about the data – will enable the sharing of data and creation of new products.  The role requires a strong leader that can work with global, cross-functional teams to outline the strategy and execution plan for ECP Metadata.

This position will report to a Senior Director of Capability Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders and the project team to develop the vision, strategy and roadmap for the ECP metadata program (Identity, Registry, Rights and Provenance) and the Registry Program specifically

  • Translate stakeholder requirements in to themes for the roadmap, and work with technology to create Epics to describe the work required

  • Consult with users on data models, reports and best practices
  • Partner with product consultants to manage customer onboarding, setup, administration and support

  • Provide leadership for critical initiatives and direction to the project/program resources
  • Host regular product forums with users to discuss progress on the roadmap
  • Publish communications and marketing materials (blogs, release notes, newsletter) to evangelize the product
