Sr. Software Compliance Business Analyst

Job Description


The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Operational Analyst is responsible for participating in the day to day support of the processes, tools, and methodologies to drive consistent IT Software Asset Management (SAM) practices.  This includes the gathering and review of software contract and purchase data, managing asset data in tools, management of software compliance, and providing asset data in support of business initiatives.


Enter and maintain information in IT Asset tools, including setting up software models, reporting, and license pool management, and compliance analysis. Apply Software Asset Management knowledge to ensure quality.

Respond to requests from internal customers for specific IT Software Asset Management information.

Work with business customers in conjunction with IT sourcing to gather, analyze, and summarize key contract and purchase data for review in support of acquisition, divestitures, compliance, and technology initiatives.

Identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, and services. Follow through with business customers and vendors to obtain identified savings


Software Asset Management (%) : 35%

  • Software licensing models and terminology, as applied in a global environment.
  • Learning to assess the inter-relationship of Software entitlements models, business and product uses, and technology implementations.  
  • Manage data and data quality required to meet IT/ Software Asset Management objectives; be a domain expert in the tools used.

Process Management & Administration (%) 35%

  • Ability to define IT Asset management process and policies, as well as requirements that need to be part of other business processes. Define, track, and action success metrics.
  • Govern process effectiveness, take action where required. Actively partner with stakeholders.

Technology (%) :  10%

  • Strong understanding of technology concepts as it relates to license models.  Including multiple hardware platforms.

Leadership & Communication (%) : 20%

  • Proactive collaboration with Sourcing, Vendor & Business Management, technology groups, Acquisition/Divestiture team, and Business representatives as required.
  • Ability to define and manage projects to achieve outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate software asset management concepts, processes, and policies verbally and in written form for various audiences – business users, technologists, and management
