Position – Content Analyst

Project Summary and Position Overview:

Rate Reporting Unit team is responsible for collection, maintenance, analysis and dissemination of high quality reference and pricing content for Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Money Market clients using Eikon, Elektron, DataScope and other products. The Rate Reporting Unit team covers vast asset classes within Fixed Income, FX and Money Market instruments which includes FX Spots, Forwards, Call Money, Repo, Treasury Bills, CDs, CPs, Government Bonds content, etc.

The incumbent of this role is required to cover Real-time OTC and Benchmark content for Treasury and Fixed Income market for South Asia. In addition the incumbent will be required to cover Central Bank, 3rd party Benchmark  and various valuation content for various asset classes in South Asia. This role will suit candidates who have fair knowledge of various financial markets and have good keyboard typing skills since they will need to used Eikon excel to enter various market rates. They should be open to making outbound calls since the market rates are sourced over phones. They should be flexible and open to working under pressure.

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
 

  • Process data and apply in an accurate manner to the database using technical and financial knowledge to add value.
  • Work with contributors to ensure that their data is maintained to a high quality ensuring that where possible existing contributors extend their level of coverage to new markets and instrument types when needed.
  • Act as a secondary source of knowledge on own data, communicating with other departments and external departments in the resolution of queries on Realtime data and historical data as needed
  • Develop towards being a centre of excellence on all issues relating to real time and contributed data
  • Adhere to Change Control procedures, Data Operations standards and current data policies and procedures
  • Ensure that the relevant procedures are maintained and adhered to Promote continuous improvement through research and analysis of queries and data quality control
  • Build up knowledge of financial regulations and market practices in relevant markets
  • Seek efficiencies in work practices to achieve automation where possible
  • Test new database/application releases where appropriate, providing expert user feedback
  • Take responsibility for data quality, accuracy, timeliness and completeness  
  • Work effectively within teams or by yourself, proactively identifying and resolving problems  
  • Use available tools to best advantage
  • Support projects or ad hoc activities where appropriate
  • Use appropriate language skills to understand and source financial information
  • Maintains up to date data set expertise & works to develop further content & technical knowledge.
  • Ensures the quality and time-efficient production of financial information to Thomson Reuters products.
  • Works with and involves cross functional teams to provide Root Cause Analysis to identify solutions in problem areas. 
  • Ensures timely and successful implementation of content enhancements.
  • Effectively maintains and manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Alert internal and external clients when data issues are identified 

Education:

Bachelors Degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Business Management) or equivalent.

Required Skills:
 

  • Good team player with decent communication skills are essential.
  • Should have reasonable awareness about financial markets (Treasury & Fixed Income markets)
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Well versed with MS Office applications especially MS Excel and should have good keyboard typing skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly and concisely convey information to all levels of an organization.
  • Should be able to work under pressure. There would be a need to over stretch during volatile Financial markets and short staffed.
  • Prior industry experience preferred. Understanding of the business of Thomson Reuters preferred.
  • Experience in working independently and showing initiative. 
  • Ability to work in a real time environment under pressure.
  • Should be a very quick learner and should display high level of agility.
  • Should be ready to work on Saturdays as well as on Bank holidays since we cover content for South Asian markets.
  • Good knowledge or prior experience in financial markets would be a distinct advantage.
  • Customer focused with good client service skills



Desired Skills:
 

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience, preferably in the area of Treasury and Fixed Income.
  • Good knowledge of Thomson Reuters products, including Elektron networks, Eikon, databases and end-to-end processes.
  • Good understanding of Forex, Money and Fixed Income markets
  • Awareness of new regulation in the financial markets, pertaining to Over the Counter instruments and Benchmarks.
  • Financial Market Certification.
