Lead Consultant Business Analysis - VAT Implementation

Job Description

The Professional Services team provides ONESOURCE technology implementation, consulting and training services to external clients from a variety of industry sectors, often multinational corporations based globally. 

We are currently seeking Lead Business Analyst with a deep background/knowledge in indirect tax & related technology software implementation to join the Thomson Reuters MENA Technology team in its delivery of ONESOURCE Indirect Tax solutions.

The Lead Business Analyst will report to the Practice Lead for Solutions Delivery in Thomson Reuters MENA Technology organization. This role does not include responsibility for line management but may require delegation and review of work to / from other team members.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Undertake responsibility for delivery of OneSource Indirect Tax software implementation services throughout the complete project lifecycle – including:

  • Requirements gathering workshops with clients’ Tax / IT teams in understanding and analyzing requirements – e.g. business / tax processes, source systems and integrations etc.
  • Preparing Business Requirements document, Functional design specifications taking into account end to end workflow
  • Configuring, testing and documenting the OneSource Indirect Tax solution and supporting clients during rollout, etc.
  • Supporting clients during testing phase - UAT, SIT, Pre-go-live test etc
  • Preparing and delivering client end user training – including supporting materials, etc.
  • Supporting project management activities – including project plans, timelines, risks, tasks, deadlines, cost estimates, revenue
  • Resolving customer issues referred from OneSource Support team / helpdesk during implementation
  • Engaging with / supporting other key Tax & Accounting / OneSource product teams, OneSource Content teams and partner organizations
  • Assisting with (pre-)sales activities – e.g. software demonstrations, Tax scenarios, assessing / scoping new prospects, etc.
  • Key user trainings on the OneSource Solution

Technical / Professional Skills & Competencies

  • Technology background and/or software consulting / implementation experience (client facing)
  • Tax / accounting knowledge / experience (ideally indirect tax - Determination and compliance; relevant professional qualification desirable)
  • Functionally proficient in the Order to Cash and Procure to Pay processes
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively – verbally and in writing
  • Ability to regulate discussions or workshops according to the knowledge of the audience
  • Strong interpersonal / team-working skills
  • Analytical approach to problem solving and ability to understand concepts/situations quickly
  • Strong focus on achieving customer / client satisfaction
  • Enthusiasm / ‘can-do’ attitude & willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to consult, recommend and influence
  • Ability to work effectively independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Should be flexible to travel 30 - 40% as part of job requirements
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects that could be in various stages of implementation

Education / Certifications

  • University / undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting or relevant industry
  • A-Levels (or equivalent)
