The U.S. General News team is looking for an editor to run its West Coast coverage. The successful candidate must be equally at ease running a big breaking story and editing distinctive initiative pieces. As one of a small group of editors overseeing other parts of the country, he or she will manage reporters across the West and collaborate closely with other Reuters reporting teams. The General News team covers the United States primarily for digital clients around the world, serving some of the world’s biggest online media enterprises as well as print and visual media.
The team works closely with our photography and video operations to produce a truly multimedia product on the issues dominating U.S. news – from hurricanes and transgender rights to the effects of President Trump’s policies on communities across the country. The team focuses on winning the big breaking story with speed and excellence, and on delivering memorable initiative stories. From earthquakes and the environment to marijuana legalization and politics, California and nearby states offer golden opportunities for an editor to shine.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record as a strong leader, skillful editor and story idea generator along with a highly collaborative attitude. The position is based in our Los Angeles bureau and reports to Dina Kyriakidou Contini, Editor, U.S. General News.
