About the Role Reuters is looking for an experienced, ambitious and dynamic reporter to run its newly combined Companies and Finance news team in Tokyo, helping to break news and deliver sophisticated spot and enterprise stories from one of the world’s most fascinating markets. The successful candidate will be a strong writer with a mature, proactive approach, who can work strategically with reporters and editors. From accounting scandals to Super Mario, from automaking giants to global investment banking, Japan has it all, and this position would be at the heart of the action. As team leader, we expect unmatched ability to pick out the stories that matter, along with an energetic and enthusiastic approach to a sometimes opaque corporate and financial sector, and the knack for mentoring and guiding others.
- Strong editing and news-planning skills
- Japanese language ability strongly preferred
- Experience leading a team of journalists
- Record of getting scoops and explaining complex subjects simply
