The successful candidate should have strong English language and scripting abilities, able to speak, read and write business Cantonese (some basic Mandarin a added bonus), to a level he or she can work independently in the field and deal with local clients and sources. He or She should have an experienced shooting background, both desk and field producing experience, be able to edit, have a strong personality to meet tough challenges and deadlines.
Working closely with television crews and multi-media teams in Hong Kong, the successful candidate should be a proven self-starter with excellent communication skills, an unflappable temperament and a passion for news gathering and visual story telling. It is essential to have a global perspective to go with a strong knowledge of Hong Kong and the Greater China story.
The video news industry is going through a period of significant change, largely driven by technology and the rapidly changing habits of news consumers. The successful candidate will be very customer focused and will be able to tailor content for Reuters clients in the growing digital sector as well as existing broadcast news customers.
