Position Title: Copy editor

Position Type: Maternity Cover

Role Purpose/ Summary:

To edit Practical Law content before publication to ensure that it is clear, correct, concise and consistent, and is written in Practical Law house style and tone.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities: 

  • Editing Practical Law content in accordance with house style and tone and with Practical Law writing principles (training provided)
  • Liaising with authors/editors on contributed content

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good team working skills: must be able to work well within a number of different teams, and be easily adaptable to different team environments.
  • Good project management and prioritisation skills: must be able to organise and manage own work load, and prioritise effectively where necessary.
  • Good academic record (at least 2:1).

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience of working in an editorial role
  • Experience in a legal setting (law firm, regulatory body)

Education/ Certifications Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in Law or other degree plus the GDL
