Reuters is looking for a motivated, energetic reporter to cover the metals markets and companies in Asia.
As the manufacturing hub of the world and home to several of the fastest growing economies, Asia’s consumption of all forms of metal is unmatched. On the production front, Asia mines or refines more metal than any other region, making it a uniquely critical player on both the demand and supply sides of the ledger.

Competing at both ends of the spectrum, from split-second specialist spot news to agenda-setting longer-form enterprise requires deep sourcing within markets and companies, great organization, smart ideas - and above all a fierce determination to win.
The beat requirements include regular coverage of the global metals derivatives markets such as those traded on the LME and Shanghai Futures Exchange, as well as breaking news on physical deals, evolving trends in demand, analyses of established & emerging trade flows, and profiles of key industry players. The successful candidate will also help bolster coverage of the region’s mining companies, including giants like BHP and Rio Tinto.
To succeed, the reporter will need make strong sources among guarded industry participants at banks, trading firms, miners, investment houses and government agencies, and collaborate closely with colleagues in other bureaus on regional and global stories.
She or he will also be required to regularly engage with industry participants by conducting brief interviews and ad hoc chats in our online Global Metals Forum, and demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of global metals market and industry trends.
