Legal Product Management has an opening for a Product Developer working on Monitor Suite as well as other productivity solutions for Thomson Reuters legal customers. The Product Developer assists in the development of software and web-based product features to assist legal professionals in the practice of law. The Product Developer will help draft and update product designs, and ensure implementation of the approved plans with other functional partners including technology, content development, and marketing.  This positing requires someone who is passionate about understanding our customers, is capable of bringing creative and new ideas to life, and will deliver superior results consistently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the product owner throughout the agile development process to ensure that the product vision and market strategy is achieved
  • Write detailed user stories/requirements based on knowledge of the product as well as market, customer and competitive feedback
  • Participate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, testers, project managers, marketing, finance, sales, and account managers
  • Provide product oversight, including troubleshooting and testing of products and enhancements, and be an effective advocate for the customer
  • Monitor new product usage, subscriptions, sales, and revenue, tracking progress against business case metrics
  • Identify and assess customer needs, market size, competitive landscape, and financial opportunity for new products 
  • Contribute to the development of cost estimates and business cases for large capital investments
  • Assist in the creation and/or review of sales and training materials


  • Bachelors degree is required, JD, MBA or MLIS is preferred
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in product design or product marketing strongly preferred
  • Minimum of one year of legal industry experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in business or the practice of law strongly preferred 
  • Interest in new technologies and their potential application to the practice of law 
  • Ability and willingness to develop subject matter expertise in one or more legal topics or practice areas
  • Proven analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy 
  • Proficiency with Westlaw and other legal information resources
  • Ability to work both independently, and as a member of a team, across a highly-matrixed organization to accomplish objectives
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple, complex projects simultaneously, while adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
